Are you or your partner infertile? Before you give up hope or try invasive or expensive medical procedures, there are many natural remedies that can cure your infertility.
It is estimated that up to 15 percent of couples trying to get pregnant in the United States experience some form of infertility. It can be due to either partner, and is either caused by a pre-existing medical condition or what doctors refer to as “non-specific infertility” – a fancy way of saying “we have no idea.”
This does not mean the end of all of your hopes and dreams of conception. There are many other options available, both with medical intervention and from natural sources, for an infertility cure. Let’s look at both options:
Infertility, expecially “nonspecific”, is defined with a timeframe in mind – around 1 year for a woman under 35, and 6 months for women over 35. Some specialists categorize multiple miscarriages under fertility problems as well.
Your first move should be to visit a physician and make sure both of you receive full checkups and a blood panel to eliminate any obvious or genetic conditions.
When a diagnosis is rendered, based on history, blood work, physical and age, the primary intervention is usually in the form of prescription drugs that stimulate egg production and ovulation. These start with pills and can escalate to weekly injections. The patient is monitored closely for side effects and also for effectiveness.
There are so many fertility drugs out there now, it might take a while to fully exercise this option. All have costs (from $50 to several thousand) and side effects associated with them.
The doctor may order further tests such as MRIs or ultrasounds to identify any possible blockage of the ovaries or fallopian tubes, or any congenital abnormality that might be interfering. In the case of fibroids or cysts from Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), their removal surgically might be the initial recommendation. Many of these procedures can be done quickly and with lasers to reduce time and impact.
If surgery is not needed, there are other forms of Assisted Reproduction Therapy (ART) that can be used with fertility drugs or when the medication option has been exhausted.
The most popular and well known ART is In Vitro Fertilization (IVF). In IVF, several eggs are extracted from the female and fertilized with the sperm of the father. If it is effective and endures 2-3 days, the egg is then put back into the uterus to grow. Costs for this procedure can easily run into the tens of thousands of dollars.
Natural and Holistic Remedies
If medical intervention is not an option financially or you just really want to conceive more naturally, it is not only possible to cure infertility naturally, but it is often MORE effective than conventional medicine (view the study).
You should definitely try these options before trying medical fertility assistance. Not only do they cost a lot less, they have few if no side effects.
While medical doctors will try to pinpoint and cure an exact cause, a holistic approach will have you and your partner looking at your entire body, the balance in your system, your lifestyle, diet, stress, and overall environment.
Many of these remedies are discussed in other articles, and all are covered in the Pregnancy Miracle holistic guide, such as:
- Fertility diet- meats and soy products contain small traces of Estrogen, and need to be minimized to maintain the right balance of hormones necessary to conceive. Caffeine can also chemically interfere with fertility.A plant based diet is the best bet for a person trying to get pregnant. Smoking and alcohol should put avoided completely as well, as both have dangerous chemicals in them can interfere with ovulation.
- Acupuncture- Acupuncture and acupressure have been used for thousands years to fight infertility. Needles are placed throughout certain parts of the body to increase your energy flow. This in turn increases the blood flow and balance to the reproductive system and your hormones.Though these “energy pathways” may sound a bit new-age, the facts speak for themselves. There are documented studies where acupuncture actually has a greater success rate with women undergoing IVF for healthy pregnancies.
- Moderate exercise- as simple as it sounds, exercise can make the body much more amenable to conception. It improves bodily functions and helps rid toxins which may be messing up your reproductive system. It will help maintain a healthy weight and help keep blood pressure and cholesterol low, both of which improves conception.Exercise also releases endorphins that will regulate mood in the absence of smoking, alcohol and prescription drugs.
Talk to your doctor about how much exercise is right for you and your partner – too much or the wrong type will actually have the opposite effect.
- Herbal Supplements – There are also a number of herbal supplements used to treat infertility. Because of the potential side effects by mixing the wrong ones, talk to a nutritionist before trying this option.
